Art

From spoken word to new music commissions, First Light performances stimulate and excite.

We’ve an incredible array of art and artists right across the festival weekend. In collaboration with Messums East not one but two bronze sculptures by artist Laurence Edwards are on the beach: Borrowed Breath and Shimmer plus a new work by artist Zena Holloway – a large, site-specific, ephemeral sculpture created using non-hydrocarbon-based materials, an ambitious project that will see Zena growing three large-scale works from grass root, every part of which will eventually decay and return to the earth.

Three Ports, by textile artist Sophie Giller, in collaboration with The Art Station and Spill Festival, will be installed in our Battery of Ideas venue at 119-125 London Road North – do walk up the high street to take a look.

Easterly Artists and our Noon to Moon arts project are in Kensington Gardens with twin pieces in the Japanese Gardens and 303 Projects on Kirkley High Street.

We’ve hands on making and creating sessions with Gainsborough House’s ‘Gainsborough on the Beach’ activities based around art and landscape, the environment, sea and sky and in our Making Waves textile workshops with University of Norwich as part of our Charity Super.mkt zone.
