14:00-15:00
Sunday 18 June
Gardens Stage
Kensington Gardens
For the grand finale of a weekend of music-making from our First Light Musician in Residence, the internationally-renowned vioinist, Kerenza Peacock, we offer you the chance to dust off your violin and join her and the wonderful John and Lynne Ward to play some Celtic-inspired music. Download the music below and gather for a mass play together on the festival Sunday.
Once we’ve played a few tunes together, John and Lynne, who have played on the Sunlight Stage at both of the previous Festivals will perform their own music, which is much loved by the Lowestoft community.
We’ll be playing…
Devil’s Dream: A song from central England
Down by the Sally Gardens: An Irish tune, with words added by Yeats and arranged for soprano by Benjamin Britten
Soldier’s Joy: A 200+ years old tune that’s travelled from Scotland across to America
As First Light 2023’s Artist in Residence, Kerenza will also be performing as part of The Coal Porters and our Dawn Programme, and will be in conversation with Veronica Sekules as part of From The Ground Up.
