Mediating Sculpture in Public Space

Acclaimed Suffolk sculptor Laurence Edward’s work speaks of a human relationship to the earth and to a sense of community – from the giant 26ft Yoxman situated on the A12 in Laurence’s native Suffolk to 40 portraits of former miners in Doncaster, sculpted from life in two-hour sittings, place and people constitute what is at the heart of his practice.

Laurence will be in conversation with Calvin Winner, Head of Collections, Sainsbury Centre exploring approaches to sculpture, working in a community and how the coastal location of Lowestoft will inspire his residency there over the next few years.
