Gardens Stage
Lowestoft folk musicians John and Lynne Ward have been part of every First Light Festival since we started in 2019. They played with John Ward Band on the main stage in 2019 and then when we were in lockdown, First Light commissioned a new song for Lowestoft from John and he wrote The Light Returns. The song made its first appearance in a film produced by the First Light team which was presented as part of the 2021 Winter Solstice online activity and then revived for a magnificent performance featuring John’s Band, local musicians and schools and Pakefield Singers. Last year, they joined forces with Kerenza Peacock to present a turn-up and play session featuring some of John’s compositions alongside some traditional tunes.
For 2024, John and Lynne will be performing a relaxed set of well-known songs alongside John’s original music and there will be plenty of opportunity to join in too.
