10:00-14:00 Wednesday 12 April
East Point Pavilion
Free and Open to all
Part of First Light Festival’s Opening Parade Workshops

Gather your needles for a community knit-along as we create green and blue bunting to dress First Light Festival’s Opening Parade route. Learn as you go with expert advice from Alice Neal, or lend a helping hand to others in this peer-led knit and natter.

The drop-in session is free and relaxed, with materials provided. If you do have your own needles, hooks or green and blue wool, feel free to bring those along. All experience levels and ages are welcome!

The resulting bunting will decorate shopfront, lampposts and street signs in Lowestoft, as we welcome the world to South Beach for First Light Festival, 17-18 June.

Drop in on the day or Click here to register your attendance through our Eventbrite (so that we have an idea of how many to expect!).

Have some spare wool lying around or can’t wait to get started knitting the bunting? We’re gratefully accepting any donations or green and blue knitted bunting or spare wool. Visit East Point Pavilion or email Jen at info@firstlightlowestoft.com to drop off your creations!

ABOUT THE OPENING PARADE

To kick of this year’s First Light Festival, we’re creating a big Opening Parade which will come through the town, and everyone in Lowestoft is invited to be involved!

Made up of individuals, schools, community groups and local businesses, and featuring large-scale puppets, it’s a great chance to join in the fun and celebrate Lowestoft during the Festival.

The parade is part of Hi! Street Fest, an exciting nation-wide project with Emergency Exit Arts that celebrates the resilience of the high street across 6 English towns.
