Walk with us on the Beach of Dreams
500 Miles 500 People 500 Dreams 500 Silks
A collaborative 500-mile walk from Lowestoft to Tilbury
First Light are delighted to be partnering with Kinetika on ‘Beach of Dreams’, an epic 500-mile collaborative artwork and walk from Lowestoft to Tilbury Fort taking place this June.
Beach of Dreams is an epic journey to discover the hidden gems of the East Coast of England, inviting collaboration from communities and artists along the way in Suffolk, Essex, Southend, and Thurrock.
Kinetika’s Artistic Director, Ali Pretty, and Guardian journalist Kevin Rushby are walking the entire route, joined by artists, writers, scientists, and local residents. Together, guided by strong environmental themes and the challenges of our current time, they will consider the question “How can we creatively reimagine our future?”
Get involved, share a location, and share your dream!
We would love you to join us by signing up to one mile of the route and telling us why this part of Suffolk is special to you, your family and friends or a local group, along with a photo or a drawing of the landscape.
Those contributions submitted before 9th April will be transformed into one of 500 unique silk pennant flags made by Kinetika artists, which will form a spectacular installation on the beach in Lowestoft on the 26th June, before joining the walk at the mile it represents.
Those contribution submitted after the 9th April will be included in an interactive digital map, available for free online!
