Kosmos Ensemble offer an inspirational combination of Tango, Jazz, Gypsy, Balkan and music from the Far East, referencing Classical composers, with fearless improvisation and impeccable technique. Prepare to be intoxicated by entrancing dance rhythms, soulful improvisation and gypsy passion delivered with inimitable panache and virtuoso technique.
All three members of Kosmos are soloists in their own right and recordings include concertos with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Nova to critical acclaim. Harriet MacKenzie (violin), Meg Hamilton (viola), Rupert Gillett (cello).
“I’ve heard Kosmos several times now and love not just their unique mixing of Middle Eastern, East European and Western classical traditions but also their telepathic rapport, dazzling virtuosity, serious scholarship, intellectual curiosity and impeccable musicianship. I defy you not to be mesmerised.” Richard Morrison, chief music critic The Times
Performances on the Sunlight Stage are viewable from the beach, trackway and Jubilee parade. Please note this is public access and not a managed viewing area. Seating is not provided.
