The Godfather of UK Funk and former head of Motown UK, Les Spaine, takes to the main stage to spin records in the late evening sun.
Les Spaine emerged as one of the most important British club DJ’s of the 70’s with Residencies at The Pun Club and the legendary Timepiece Club in Liverpool before moving onto a career in the music industry working for EMI, MOTOWN and CAPITAL RECORDS.
In the 70’s/80’s he worked with such legends as Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, The Commodores, Rick James, Jermaine Jackson, Smoky Robinson, Billy Preston, Syreeta & many more before transitioning to Capital Records.
Here he continued working with the top of the Industry including artists such as Melba Moore, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Frankie Beverley & Maze, Dr Hook, Craftwork, Bob Segar & The Silver Bullet Band to name a few.
Performances on the Sunlight Stage are viewable from the beach, trackway and Jubilee parade. Please note this is public access and not a managed viewing area. Seating is not provided.
