Rovers are a collection of five interactive geodetic spheres approx. 1.8m tall and are constructed from 32 bicycle wheels each.

Based on the Buckminster Fuller design known as the “Bucky Ball” most easily recognised as a football made from 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. They are able to be rolled around but have a tendency to push back.

Artist Nick Ball sourced the wheels from a friend who had retired from his bicycle repair business. The name comes from the cult tv series “The Prisoner”, where the borders of the village was patrolled by inflatable spheres called rovers.

When you interact with a rover due to its uneven centre of gravity, they are unpredictable in their response to your actions.
