Wooden Roots was started in the USA 10 years ago by husband and wife duo Marcus and Gemma Brown before they returned to the UK and settled in Suffolk where they are continuing their journey and passion for traditional West African drums and percussion instruments, especially the djembe! They accept only the best and take pride in sourcing the world’s best djembe shells, instruments and materials (generally all from West Africa).

“Making, selling and teaching these drums is our passion and is one of the most rewarding things to us.   We love introducing people to the culture and watching them grow within it” said Marcus Brown, now a world renowned djembe builder.  They ship their drums worldwide but also take in drums for repair and tune up and keep some on the top artists in the UK up and running with their Djembes at performance level.

As well as making life easy in helping you select the right drum they also offer beginner drum lessons from their studio in Rendlesham, Woodbridge, Suffolk.  Wooden Roots also offer pop up drumming events in the community and can be found on all the socials as well as their website www.woodenroots.com.
