Volunteer at First Light Festival

Applications to volunteer with us for First Light Festival 2023 are now open.

We have a really exciting and ambitious programme planned for the festival, and we need enthusiastic, committed and friendly people to help us bring it to life.

As a volunteer you will be an integral part of our team, helping us with stewarding events, artist liaison, box office, evaluation and wayfinding. Each shift is 4 hours and you can do as many shifts as you like over the festival.

In return we hope to provide an opportunity to meet new people, try new things, gain work and life experience and be part of something special!

To find out more details of what volunteers at First Light Festival do, and what we can offer volunteers, please read the Volunteer Role Description Document.

Volunteering: In Your Own Words

‘What struck me most about volunteering for the First Light Festival was the sense of community pride and camaraderie every one of local volunteers had. We had great fun showing off our fantastic seaside to out-of-town visitors.  We’re so used to our little corner of the UK that we forget how special it is and seeing it anew through their eyes was magical.’

Alice, 2019 Volunteer

I’ve spent all my summers in Lowestoft since I was a kid so it holds a lot of memories for me. Volunteering for First Light was a great opportunity for me to feel more connected to the community. I can sometimes feel a little bit anxious going to new things and meeting new people, but volunteering gives you support and a useful role, it definitely helped me to enjoy the festival more.
