Interstellar Ideas

Interstellar Ideas, in the Planet Positive zone on the beach is where you’ll be treated to dialogue and conversations with leading edge speakers on issues around the climate and much more.

Saturday 20 June

Gareth Evans has co-curated an out of this world line up. He’s a London-based writer, editor, film and event producer who has curated numerous film and event seasons and festivals across the UK.

Patrick Grant will close the talks sessions on Saturday night. Bringing stories from his time as presenter and judge on Great British Sewing Bee and as founder of Community Clothing.

Sunday 21 June

Astronomer, author and The Sky at Night presenter Chris Lintott joins musician, composer and podcaster Steve Pretty for a day of conversation, discovery and unexpected connections in First Light’s Interstellar Ideas tent.

Together, Chris and Steve are Universe of Music: a collaboration exploring where science and sound meet. Across the day, they’ll range from the origins of the Universe to its far future, via music, listening, nature, space, and some of the stranger corners of human curiosity.

They’ll be joined by special guests from the Natural History Museum, marine science organisation Cefas, Norwich Astronomical Society, and writer and poet George McKay.

Steve will also be recording parts of the day for Steve Pretty On the Origin of the Pieces, his podcast for the musically curious.

There will be a bookshop over the festival weekend so be sure to visit to find more about the writers and performers!
