Our parade theme for 2026 celebrates the 13 Full Moons which rise in our skies this year.
We will be visiting local schools with CEFAS looking at how the moon affects our environment and we’d love to see you at our community making days at East Point Pavilion – the Festival Fundays – where you can create a moon costume to use in our opening parade and learn the community mass dance The Big Bang Boogie https://firstlightlowestoft.com/event/big-bang-boogie/

Festival Fundays take place on:
10 April 13:00-15:00
24 April 10:30 – 11:30
1 May 10:30 – 11:30
Sat 16 May 10:30 – 12:00
22 May 10:30 – 11:30
28 May 10:00 – 15:00 with Space East
5 June 10:30 – 12:00 – Learn the Big Bang Boogie and craft some herring
Sat 13 June 13:00 – 15:00
Free to attend. All supplies included but bring any tubes, glitter, baubles that you want to reuse.
Parade starts at East Point Pavilion at 11:00 on 20 June 2026. Follow The Marina Samba Band, our schools and community groups, and Lowestoft’s own SOL, NEPTUNE and SPECTRUM as we moon walk to the opening of the festival on the beach.
Parade is the culmination of our work with local community groups, in-house school workshops, assemblies, and public sharing sessions, which are delivered in partnership with CEFAS and Space East.
It’ll be out of this world!
