About
We will write in the sand itself, using the shoreline as a temporary page. Working with the natural rhythms of tide and weather, the project removes pressure around “getting it right” and instead foregrounds process, joy and personal expression.
Writing Love Letters to the Sea is a free, participatory creative writing workshop that takes place directly on the beach, inviting members of the public to engage with writing in an accessible, place-based, and fun way.
Join award winning novelist and writer Amanda Hodgkinson, in a writing workshop that encourages participants to write poems, letters, and short texts in the sand itself, using the shoreline as a temporary page.
By working with impermanent materials and the natural rhythms of tide and weather, the project removes pressure around “getting it right” and instead foregrounds process, presence, joy and personal expression.
Participants are guided through writing prompts that question our relationship to the sea and the beach. Writing may be explored and enjoyed and also observed quietly as it is erased by the tide. There is no requirement for previous writing experience, making the workshop suitable for a broad range of participants, including those new to creative writing.
