A unique multi-arts solstice festival in a beautiful seaside setting featuring YOU!
 
First Light Festival is a unique weekend long celebration of arts and culture taking place on the seafront of Britain’s most easterly town, Lowestoft. With free access and over 200 free ev the programme is broad and inclusive, encompassing big names acts whilst also shining a light on local talent and cultural organisations.  

Volunteers are an integral part of our team. In 2025, our brilliant team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers undertook a staggering 452 hours of shifts over the course of the 2 days! Our future plans are ambitious and exciting, and we need your help to deliver what promises to be another amazing event in 2026.  

Want to find out more? We are holding two ‘Find Out’ events on Thursday 16 April, 5pm – 7pm at East Point Pavilion, Royal Plain, Lowestoft and Saturday 18 April, 10am – 1pm at The Battery, 119 London Road North, Lowestoft. No need to book, just turn up!

You will need to be available for the following dates:
Saturday 20th and/or Sunday 21st June for the Festival.
 
Volunteers for First Light Festival must be 16+. If you are under 18 we will require parental permission. Some of the roles we have are only for over 18s. If you are aged 16-25 and interested in work experience opportunities, click here.

Roles are allocated on experience and availability, however due to the terrain of the festival site there may be some roles or locations which are not suitable for everyone. We Please let us know of any access requirements you may have in order for us to support you effectively in your application, we can discuss access requirements with volunteers on a case by case basis and will make reasonable adjustments where we can.

We are looking for help from April with admin in our office and distributing programmes around Lowestoft and the local area. Times and dates are flexible and can be agreed subject to your availability.
