Supported by Suffolk County Council the new Horizons project, led by First Light Festival CIC, is offering 16-25 year-olds with an interest in creative careers, the chance to learn about and support the production of our cultural events.
We are now recruiting our first cohort of ambassadors for Game Lowestoft.
Attending weekly sessions, which take place East Point Pavilion from 5pm – 7pm, our ambassadors will build knowledge and gain experience of the entire production process, playing an important role in the final event in November.
Over the course of 8 weeks, you will learn about:
Programming & Producing Events
How do you decide what activities and organisations will be at the event, what budgets you have to work with, and how do you make sure you reach the right audience?
Technical Production
What requirements do you need to consider, is the space you’re working in appropriate, how do you assess risks?
Event Management
How do you organise and manage the event days to ensure they run smoothly, how do you communicate this and to who, how do you manage teams and roles on the day?
Marketing & Advertising
Do you understand your audience and how to best reach them, what are the appropriate marketing methods to engage visitors and how do you capture their experiences? What makes people believe this is the event to go to?
Project Design
How do you facilitate and manage your space and the needs of each exhibitor/activity, what is going to draw visitors into the space, and how will the space reflect the target audience of the event?
As part of the cohort, you will have input into the overall look and feel of Game Lowestoft and play a vital role on the event days. Each session will be focused on one theme to learn more about, often with a guest speaker working in that industry. Each session will involve relevant activities to help you gain a deeper understanding of the production, and you will be tasked with creating decor for the event as well as social media campaigns. You will champion this event to your peers and be ambassadors on the event days as part of the wider Game Lowestoft team.
There are limited spaces and you will need to commit to attending weekly sessions on Tuesdays 5-7pm. You do not need to have any prior experience in events, but we are looking for those that are going to bring a lot to the project but also gain a worthwhile experience.
